SLA Junior Seminar 9: The Elephant Man

He is not beautiful. His mother does not want him, children run away from him. 

This is a true and tragic story that happened in the 19 century England. Joseph Merrick is an ugly man, nobody likes him, everyone laugh at him. His greatest wish is to live an ordinary life like ordinary people. People put him in a cage for everybody to see. Until one day, a doctor found him. The doctor thought he was very interesting so he helped Merrick to find a place to live. Merrick hungered for friends and made his life substantial, happy. Then Merrick became famous, everyone wanted to visit him. Even the Queen went to visit him. In the end, he died peacefully at his bed.

If you were him, would you face reality or challenge fate? A person looks very ugly, but his mind is so kind and innocent. It is unwise to judge people by externals. Merrick is a person with a loving heart, so we should learn from him with his benefits.

SLA Junior Seminar 8: The Black Cat

Yesterday morning, am archeologist was found dead in a Cairo hotel. The archeologist was called Pearson.

     The Black Cat is an action-packed detective story. One archeologist found a very old and valuable antiquity black cat. Many people wanted to have that cat, they struggled to get the cat and some of them died. One day, Salahadin's friend who is an archeologist was going to visit him. Salahadin waited for him, but he was murdered. In his room of the hotel, there were some boxes which belonged to him, however, one of them lost. There must be a murderer who killed him and stole the black cat. Can Salahadin find a murderer?

     I think Salahdin is clever and brave. He stood up to enemies and finally he got the black cat. However, he is a little careless and not similar to major detective such as Holmes. 

SLA Junior Seminar 7: Fly Away Home

They must have a mother and a father, to teach them. But they don't have a mother and father. Only me and you. (p17-p18)

The story follows a young girl from New Zealand who survives a car crash that results in the death of her mother. She came to the long-lost father at home. Amy accidentally discovered young wild goose. The little wild goose were out of their shells, after will be the first to see Amy as a mother. As the goose grows, Amy realizes that unless she and her father can teach the birds' migration route from Ontario to North Carolina, the birds will not be able to survive the winter. What are they going to do to help these goose without parents?


The little wild goose became the feelings of the people were glue, we other need a bridge to communicate, sometimes is the interest relations, and from the nature of the small wild goose is like an angel, let her to break the barrier, truly realized a family affection. 

SLA Junior Seminar 6: Martin Luther King

"I have a dream today... one day little black boys and girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and little white girls as sisters and brothers."

     Martin Luther King was an American political activist, the most famous leader of the American civil rights movement. I suppose most people have learned the article "I have a dream". It made the movement reached the peak. It not only changed the fate of African Americans, giving them a largely the equality, freedom and deeply affect all American life and ideas.

     How to eliminate racial discrimination? The white people should correct their attitude towards the black, and give hands to the black people who need help. The black people should improve their quality to win respect of the white people. In other words, it is vital that we should keep the equal mind to treat everyone.
