SLA Junior Seminar 12: My Fair Lady

"You're no gentleman, you're not, talking about things like that! I'm a good girl, I am." (p12)

Eliza Doolittle is a poor girl who lives on selling flowers. She is beautiful and smart; however, she has a strong London accent. She comes to Professor Higgins asking for learning pronunciation. The gentleman uses various ways to teach her, though the process is hard, they do achieve great success. When they come to the embassy ball, Miss Doolittle charms everyone with her beauty.

Henry Higgins is a phonetic professor, attracted by Eliza Doolittle's voice. He bet his friend that Eliza could be treated as ladies. He trained Eliza strictly. He disliked young girls originally, but after getting along months with Eliza, he found that he couldn't live without her.

In this story, I appreciate Eliza Doolittle better. Eliza knows the chance that is all her hope. And her hope will be a great motivation. Therefore she never complained about her difficulties and under self-esteem, but still leaded a happy and confident life.
