SLA Seminar Junior 10: The Turn of the Screw

Suddenly, I looked up and saw a face at the window. It was staring at me through the glass. (p11)


     The protagonist of the story,  a twenty-year-old woman who has been put in charge of educating and supervising Flora and Miles in an old country mansion. On several occasions after her arrival, the governess sees the ghosts of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel. Who are they? Quint is a former valet at Bly. The governess believes Quint's ghost is haunting Bly with the intention of corrupting Miles. On the other hand, the governess's predecessor, Miss Jessel is planning to ensnare the young children's young soul.

      Why does only governess see them? What would the governess going to protect two children?
